We have to fight for hemp on a federal level.
The Farm Bill is up for renewal, which means both the House Agricultural Committee and the Senate Agricultural Committee are drafting new versions of the Farm Bill. When the Farm Bill was updated in 2014, it federally legalized hemp as we know it. That could all go away with new Farm Bill language.
Contact Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Gavin Newsom , and Congressman Andy Harris as they are championing a ban on hemp.
If hemp has improved the quality of life of you or a loved one, you should check if any of the politicians in the House Agricultural Committee or Senate Agricultural Committee represent your state. Even if you don't have a representative on an agricultural committee, the politicians who represent you on a federal level (you can find them here) will be giving input and voting on the Farm Bill.

We have to fight for hemp in North Carolina.
In North Carolina, Governer Josh Stein has just established the North Carolina Advisory Council on Cannabis in an effort to develop thoughtful policy around cannabis that is grounded in public health and safety. This council was largely formed as a response to cannabis overconsumption in minors, and seeks to protect them.
While we encourage this effort, we don’t want them to forget about the adults who use hemp for every day relief, the farmers who rely on hemp as a crop, or the businesses who already implement safety practices to protect minors.
In the council's steps toward comprehensive cannabis policy, it is crucial that we urge them to seek the opinion of businesses and professionals within the hemp industry that are being safe and responsible.
You can submit your comments at the North Carolina Advisory Council on Cannabis's Public Comment Form, or to any of the Council Members' and Council Staff's individual contact information. The following is a guide of what you can send:
